Author of Reweaving What Matters. Debuting September 10, 2025.
Kathy Coffey Solberg brings over two decades of experience as a community weaver to this work. In the last years, she has also become a fiber weaver. Her understanding of the loom—how threads create fabric through tension and release, how patterns emerge through conscious choices, how errors require patient unweaving—directly informed the framework in this book.

As a consultant with a systems lens and member of The Weaving Lab (an international cohort of community weavers supported by the Aspen Institute), she connects with practitioners worldwide who are rebuilding social fabric at local and organizational levels. After serving as Executive Director of a leadership development nonprofit, Solberg founded CommonUnity Consulting to help organizations strengthen their connections and navigate change.
Her 2017 TEDx talk, “How We Create Community: Connect and Lead,” has reached over 80,000 viewers. She has trained as a Warrior for the Human Spirit through Margaret Wheatley’s Berkana Institute and is a certified Human Systems Dynamics practitioner and Social Innovation specialist. She has facilitated transformation work with hundreds of leaders across sectors including healthcare, education, government, and nonprofit organizations.
Solberg’s approach emerges from both tactile practice at the loom and lived experience navigating personal and systemic challenges. She lives by her belief that “if systems change was easy, someone would have done it by now,” offering practical, incremental approaches to what feels overwhelming. Based in the Pacific Northwest, she continues to weave both fiber and community while supporting others in transforming their own fabric.
